Owner-Operator Marty Lester Wins Drivewyze “Download, Drive and Win” Contest

Owner-Operator Marty Lester Wins Drivewyze “Download, Drive and Win” Contest

BURLINGAME, Calif., Mar. 13, 2014 –  When Marty Lester checked his daily email, he ran across a message saying he won a contest, and moved his finger to hit delete. “More spam,” he thought. “But then I noticed the message was coming from Drivewyze and I remembered they had a contest underway.”

With that he called the number included in the email and learned he won $1,200 in the Drivewyze “Download, Drive and Win” contest, which was held during the month of February. Lester, an owner-operator leased to Integrity Logistics, had 60 entries in the contest, one entry for each weigh station he passed during the month of February. He was chosen at random.

“I’ve never won anything in my life, so this is really neat,” said the 47-year old Lester, who is married and has four children.  “I plan to buy some more chrome for my truck (a 2003 Freightliner Classic). I’ve been driving for 10 years, and just became an owner-operator about a year and a half ago. So this check really comes in handy to outfit my rig.”

The contest was open to anyone using the free Drivewyze PreClear 3.0 app, which provides visual and audible alerts when a driver is 2 miles out from an upcoming weigh station. PreClear identifies the nation’s 700-plus weigh stations. With each weigh station passed, an entry was automatically entered in the contest for the driver. Current users of Drivewyze PreClear’s subscription-based weigh station bypass service were also automatically entered in the contest.

“We’re thrilled to present a check to Marty,” said Brian Mofford, vice president of Drivewyze. “The contest was a great success and our way of saying thanks for trying our free ‘heads up’ weigh station alert app.”

Lester has been using Drivewyze PreClear since December, and said he recently converted his trial subscription for weigh station bypass opportunities into a paid subscription.

“The first thing I do when I jump into my truck is turn on the Drivewyze app,” said Lester. “I run the Midwest to Southwest states and use Drivewyze in several states for weigh station bypasses. I’ve only had the red light come on once (indicating a request to pull into a weigh station). I can’t tell you how nice it is to bypass weigh stations. You never know how long you’ll be sitting in the station, and you never know when they might choose you for a random vehicle inspection.”

According to Mofford, Drivewyze’s weigh station bypass service is currently available in 20 states, with more being added each month. “We’re rapidly growing and states are coming on board each month which will allow us to complete our goal of total nationwide coverage.”

“I can’t wait for that day,” said Lester. “I love getting bypasses – it’s a great time and stress saver.”

The Drivewyze PreClear 3.0 app is available without a subscription to all truck drivers from the Google Play store for loading onto Android smartphones, tablets and select electronic on-board recorders.  At any time, users can click a button in the app and start an optional 30-day free trial of the subscription-based Drivewyze PreClear weigh station bypass service. With the bypass service, drivers receive not only a free heads-up notification, but also the opportunity to request and receive bypass privileges at 270 weigh stations and inspection sites across 20 states. Bypass rates range from 50 percent to 98 percent based on a carrier’s credentials and safety record.
