Drivewyze Inspection Site Bypass Service Now Available in Louisiana

BURLINGAME, Calif., April 14, 2015 Drivewyze has announced that Louisiana has added its PreClear weigh station and inspection site bypass service. The mobile-based service is now available at 559 locations in 35 states.

Drivewyze PreClear users can now receive bypasses at 14 sites in Louisiana, including eight locations with high truck traffic and congestion on U.S. Interstates 10, 12 and 20:

  • I-12 eastbound and westbound at milemarker 36, about 2 miles west of the U.S. Interstate 55 and I-12 interchange;
  • I-10 eastbound and westbound at Breaux Bridge near milemarker 108;
  • I-20 eastbound and westbound at Delta, milemarker 187 near the Mississippi/Louisiana state border;
  • I-20 eastbound and westbound between the 1 and 2 milemarkers, near the Louisiana/Texas state border.

The remaining six locations are on the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 near milemarker 207, plus the westbound lane of I-10 near milemarker 3; the southbound lane of I-55 near milemarker 59 and the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 12 near milemarker 3. A map with all of the currently active weigh stations and inspection sites in Louisiana and across the country is available on the Drivewyze web site:

“We’re pleased that officials with the Louisiana State Police see Drivewyze’s mobile-based weigh station bypass technology as an effective way for their enforcement officers to screen commercial operators,” said Brian Heath, president of Drivewyze. “They can reward safe truck fleets and operators with much-needed bypasses.”

Other benefits include a reduction in congestion, particularly in and around weigh stations. Safe trucks stay rolling on the highway, not slowing traffic flow by changing lanes to exit into the weigh station or to merge back into traffic.

Drivewyze uses cellular technology and the internet to add transponder-like functionality to electronic logging devices, smartphones and tablets instead of dedicated short-range communication transponders and transponder readers, Heath said.

Drivewyze PreClear 3.0, the newest version of the weigh station application, comes with Weigh Station Heads-Up service for real-time notifications for more than 700 weigh stations and inspection sites nationwide. While the notification service is free, the bypass service is subscription-based and starts at $15.75 per vehicle per month with free trial offers and volume discounts available. The Drivewyze PreClear weigh station bypass application can be used on Android and iOS-based tablets or smartphones, and is integrated into PeopleNet Blu.2 and Tablet devices, the Zonar 2020 mobile communications tablet, and the Rand McNally TND 760 fleet management device.
