Ready, Set, Go! Drivewyze Ready to Start Service in Ontario March 1
After extensive planning and meetings with the Minister of Transportation of Ontario, it’s finally here: Ontario’s first weigh station bypass services will be available for subscription starting March 1, and we were more than excited to have announced this expansion with the MTO at a press event on January 24.
Our very own, Doug Johnson, vice president of marketing accompanied Jeff Yurek, Minister of Transportation to make the announcement in London, Ontario.
Trucks travelling through Ontario will now have the opportunity to bypass 32 inspection locations, and we know that will bring a smile to all our customers who travel through the province. The sites that will be Drivewyze enabled, underwent strategic planning, and are located in the most heavily travelled corridors of the providence.
Those sites feature four locations eastbound along Highway 401, a major corridor connecting Detroit to Toronto. Plus we have great coverage along Highways 402 and 403.
Jeff Yurek told the London Free Press “It’s (bypass) is going to improve safety because it’s going to give time back to the drivers to make their route in a timely manner, as opposed to being held up at inspection stations when they don’t really need to be there and having to make up time.”
There was even coverage during the evening news thanks to CTV News London. And James Menzies, editor from Truck News, made the trek down from Toronto to London to catch the press conference. He did a great job with his coverage.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been undergoing extensive beta testing with several fleets, to ensure all will go smoothly when March 1 rolls around. Our customers can’t wait:
“We’re very excited about the rollout of Drivewyze in Ontario. Since we’re predominantly based here, the potential to use the service and have our drivers save time is great news for us,” Amy Barber, risk manager, for Contrans Flatbed Group, told us. “We feel anything we can do to make life on the road a little easier for our drivers, the better.”
