Thermal Inspection Systems

Drivewyze is the world leader in the development and production of integrated thermal inspection systems for Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) safety enforcement. Our thermal inspection systems scan the CMV’s axle sets looking for thermal signatures associated with unsafe and defective equipment such as inoperative brakes, failed bearings and under-inflated or damaged tires.

Our thermal inspection systems are designed with the roadside in mind and have been engineered to meet even the most demanding roadside environments. Our solutions are designed solely for CMV operations and are based on industry-leading experience in the application of thermal imaging technology to improve highway safety.

No other organization in the world has deployed more thermal inspection systems for highway safety than Drivewyze. We have the expertise and a track record that you can trust to deliver the most effective inspection systems available in the marketplace.

Automated Thermal Inspection System

Drivewyze’s patented Automated Thermal Inspection System (ATIS, U.S. Patent No. 8,985,848) is an industry-leading electronic screening platform that automatically screens Commercial Motor Vehicles for failing mechanical gear without human intervention. It significantly reduces the amount of time it takes commercial vehicle law enforcement inspectors to screen vehicles for critical safety defects.

ATIS incorporates permanently mounted thermal cameras on each side of a lane approaching the weigh station. High resolution thermal images are captured for each wheel set (both left and right) of each axle on the vehicle. The system automatically processes each image, identifying thermal anomalies such as inoperative brakes, failed bearings and under-inflated or damaged tires, and immediately displays this information and corresponding images on the IIS Smart Roadside display.

Fixed Thermal Inspection Systems

Fixed Thermal Inspection Systems incorporate permanently mounted thermal cameras on the lane approaching the weigh station. The system provides enforcement personnel with high resolution thermal images for each wheel set (both left and right) of each axle on the vehicle. It assists them in making a qualified inspection decision by identifying thermal anomalies such as inoperative brakes, failed bearings and under-inflated or damaged tires.

Drivewyze also provides thermal inspection systems for Mobile Van deployments to screen Commercial Motor Vehicles at remote or temporary enforcement locations. These mobile units provide enforcement agencies with the ability to identify potential safety violations at sites where fixed stations are impractical or cost prohibitive.
