CFS leverages Drivewyze PreClear to improve fleet efficiency by reducing weigh station-related delays and costs. In 2019, the company transitioned from PrePass to Drivewyze, seeking enhanced integration with its electronic logging devices (ELDs) and access to the industry’s largest bypass network, covering over 900 fixed and mobile sites across 48 states and provinces.

Results have been significant. In a single month, CFS trucks equipped with Drivewyze bypassed over 1,645 weigh stations, reducing driver wait times by 137 hours and saving the company more than $14,300 in operating costs.

“Reducing weigh station downtime not only lowers expenses but also keeps our drivers on schedule, which is critical to our efficiency goals,” added Prasek. “Our drivers value the system’s convenience and the ability to stay focused on their routes.”

Simplifying Toll Management with Bestpass

Managing tolls across a dispersed, nationwide fleet presents a unique challenge. To address this, CFS adopted Bestpass in 2012, automating toll management and consolidating the complexities of working with multiple tolling authorities.

“Before Bestpass, managing tolls for our growing long-haul operations was time-consuming and prone to inefficiencies,” explained Bill Mentzer, Product Manager at CFS. “Bestpass streamlined these processes, giving us a single system to track, process, and pay tolls.”

Currently, 60% of CFS’s fleet is equipped with Bestpass transponders, including the Complete Pass, which covers all major toll roads in the U.S. The system not only provides access to discounted toll rates but also simplifies customer billing by consolidating toll data into a single account.

“This level of integration allows us to monitor toll activity and allocate costs more effectively,” Mentzer noted. “With automated payments and detailed reporting, Bestpass eliminates unnecessary administrative burdens and ensures accuracy.”
