Drivewyze Adds Florida Rest Area Notifications
April 3, 2020
Working in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation, the Drivewyze team has added temporary open/closed Rest Area notifications to the Drivewyze Safety Notifications service, to help drivers plan ahead and find safe places to park during the COVID-19 crisis. This follows the addition of similar notifications for Pennsylvania rest areas, which were added the Drivewyze Safety Notifications service last week.
Finding safe places to park within mandated Hours of Service rules is a daily challenge for drivers. Keeping track of which sites are open or closed on the road adds to that stress. Drivers of fleets that are enrolled in the Drivewyze Safety Notifications service will automatically receive an in-cab notice though their Drivewyze application well in advance of rest areas or travel centers operated by the Florida DOT Office of Maintenance, along with information on whether the facility open or closed to parking. 5 out of these 65 Florida rest areas are currently closed.
Fleets that are currently enrolled in the Drivewyze Safety Notifications service do not need to do anything in order for their drivers to start seeing these Rest Area notifications in Florida. Notifications for closed rest areas are being displayed now, and notifications for open sites will follow later today.
Carriers that are subscribed to the Drivewyze PreClear Weigh Station bypass service, but who are not currently enrolled in the Safety Notifications service, are encouraged to sign up. Drivewyze Safety Notifications are available at no added cost to existing bypass customers and include 2000+ service sites across the United States, including high roll-over, steep grade, work zone and low bridge notifications.
Our team remains committed to helping drivers stay safe, and we are thankful for everything our customers and their drivers are doing right now to keep our supply chains moving.
